ESTONIAN SINFONIETTA AT THE FINAL CONCERT OF XXIII KURESSAARE CHAMBER MUSIC DAYS

On Saturday, August 5th at 7 PM in the Kuressaare Cultural Center Estonian Sinfonietta Soloists will perform the brand new concert program called "Balkans’ Soul”.Music Director of this program, the concertmaster of the orchestra Maano Männi had written:
„When was the last time we were touched by expressive sound that was inspired by Balkan folk music, and the anxious soul of the people of these countries? How convincing is the transformation of the musicians of Estonian Sinfonietta into passionate Gipsy violinists? All this can be experienced at this unique concert!“

There are two Estonian premieres in that program - “Pictures of Bulgaria” by a Bulgarian star-composer Vassil Kazandjiev (1934), and “Concert Transilvan on 17th Century Romanian themes” by a young Romanian Vlad Maistorovici (1985), soloist is Johannes Põlda.
At this concert also features “Romanian folk dances” and “Transylvanian dances” by Hungarian Béla Bartók (1881-1945) and “Five Greek dances” by Nikos Skalkottas (1904-1949), piece, which has the same importance in Greek music as “Home Melody” by Heino Eller in Estonia.

The Kuressaare Chamber Music Days have been organized since 1995 each year in the beginning of August in the capital of Saaremaa, the largest island of Western Estonia.
The artistic director and producer of Kuressaare Chamber Music Days is pianist Andres Paas.
