Great Hall of Cologne Philharmonie
ESTONIAN SINFONIETTA IN THE COLOGNE PHILHARMONIE
On Sunday, November 3rd 2024, the Estonian Sinfonietta will play in the Great Hall of the Cologne Philharmonie.
The orchestra, which has played in the Musikverein's Golden Hall in 2018 and in the Vienna Konzerthaus in 2022, will have once again the opportunity to bring Estonian musicians and music to one of Europe's most prestigious stages.
That very concert will be conducted by Maria Seletskaya, who has just taken up her post as Music Director of the English National Ballet.
There will be three soloists at this concert, all from Estonia.
Hans Christian Aavik will play Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Violin Concerto No.3 K.216.
Pianist Maila Laidna and cellist Andreas Lend will perform Arvo Pärt's magnificent work "Mirror in the Mirror".
Another piece of Estonian music will be also from Arvo Pärt - "Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten".
The concert is part of the series "European Classics at the Cologne Philharmonie" and will be framed by works by the Viennese classics - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's overture to the opera "The Mercy of Titus" K.621 and Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No.1 Op.21.
