ESTONIAN SINFONIETTA SOLOISTS AT THE FINAL CONCERT OF 24th KURESSAARE CHAMBER MUSIC DAYS

On Saturday 4th August, the Estonian Sinfonietta Soloists will perform at the final concert of Kuressaare Chamber Music Days the program Night Fantasy, which the concertmaster Maano Männi has commented as follows:
“The programme is inspired by the sounds of the evening and night – also Mozart’s famous serenade “A Little Night Music” was originally meant to be performed in the evening mood with every performance brining new nuances to the listener. Gershwin lulls in a jazz key while Maskats sends us to the heights of Piazzolla’s passion.”

The concert features altogether three works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In addition to the serenades inspired by the night – Serenata Notturna K.239 and Eine Kleine Nachtmusic/ A Little Night Music K.525, the Chinese-born virtuoso Haiou Zhang from Germany performs also Mozart’s Piano Concert K.414.
The Estonian Sinfonietta musicians have performed several premieres at Kuressaare Chamber Music Days over the years. This time their concerts include the Estonian premiere of the work Pusnakts Rīgā / Midnight in Riga by the Latvian composer Artūrs Maskats (1957) with Maano Männi (violin), Jarkko Launonen (cello) and Karl Johann Lattikas (vibraphone) as the soloists.

Kuressaare Chamber Music Days have been organised in the capital of the largest island of West Estonia Saaremaa every year in early August since 1995. It is the chamber music festival with the longest tradition in Estonia and also the initiator of music festival tradition in Saaremaa.
