HIGHLIGHTS OF ESTONIAN SINFONIETTA IN SEASON 2018/2019

The Estonian Sinfonietta will start the season as a guest at the anniversary concert of chamber choir Collegium Musicale featuring the works of Pärt Uusberg in St John’s Church on 3 October. The concert is a part of the presentation of Uusberg’s new CD and the Estonian Sinfonietta together with Collegium Musicale conducted by Endrik Üksvärav will play Uusberg’s composition Õhtu ilu (The Beauty of the Night).

The high-spirited end of the year concert “Johann Strauss and Friends” in Viljandi Traditional Music Centre on 29 December will include the unforgettable melodies by the king of waltz but also works by other masters with at least similar impact on music history – Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Astor Piazzolla, Artūrs Maskats and Alfred Schnittke.

At the end of March, the Estonian Sinfonietta together with cellist Alexander Hülshoff and Collegium Musicale will perform Blazhenstva by Alexander Knaifel and Seven Dreams of Seven Birds by Tõnu Kõrvits.
The concert on the eve of 25 March is dedicated to the memory of people deported to Siberia in March.

The Estonian Sinfonietta’s season 2018/2019 will end at the Spring Festival in Malta in May with two concerts. The chamber concert will include the works by Estonian and Maltese composers performed by the Estonian Sinfonietta soloists.
The final concert of the festival at Teatris Manoel will include the works by Paul Hindemith, Francis Poulenc, Karl Fiorini and Gustav Mahler conducted by Maltese-born conductor Brian Schembri residing at present in Paris, the soloists are mezzo soprano Marc Monreal and pianist Lucia Micallef.
